It's a Win

Sexy Rexy Report: Hell yeah, it feels good to put up a Sexy Rexy Report again. Brian Griese got injured late in the first half and Grossman was put in. He went 7 of 14 for 142 yards and a TD to win the game. I'm glad Grossman got another chance and I'm hoping that if Griese looks like shit for another game that they give Grossman another chance.

The Good: We won, and the defense played well. We'll take what we can from the defense since they have been playing rather poorly as of late.

The Bad: Cedric Benson. He has continually looked like shit this season. I'm up for having Hester put in as a running back and see if he could perform something like Minnesota's Adrian Peterson. I realize he won't be that good, but I think he would be better than Benson.

The Ugly: Grossman had two fumbles, one of which came from his first snap.

It Hurts

Griese Chicken Report: His performance this week may be enough to get the quarterback controversy started again, but this time it will involve Kyle Orton. He threw for 4 interceptions today, and only one touchdown. He went from NFC Player of the Week last week to playing like Sexy Rexy this week.

The Good: Pissed Off at Da' Bears Blog was right that getting Olsen involved in the offense is good. Otherwise there wasn't a whole lot of good to be found. The defense held Detroit to 16 points which is a lot better than their first meeting where they let them score 34 points in the 4th quarter which was enough for an NFL record.

The Bad: The offense has looked terrible for almost this entire season. Benson has looked awful. He ran for a meager 50 yards and had a 3.8 yard average. The Bears aren't being able to force turnovers this season, which was one of their biggest keys to success last year. They're also having a hard time getting Hester involved in the offense, which could be the spark the offense needs.

The Ugly: The Bears are 0-3 following a victory, meaning they don't have any back to back wins this season.

1 Under .500

Griese Chicken Report: He threw for over 300 yards and didn't throw an interception. He only threw one touchdown, but it came at a vital time; an end of the game touchdown drive to win. His communication device in his helmet before the last drive, which means he called all the plays himself to go 97 yards and throw a touchdown pass. I have to agree with Jeff at Da' Bears Blog that Brian Griese is the Bears quarterback. I was skeptical at first of him, and thought that they should have given Grossman another chance, but after Sunday I have to say Griese has earned his chance.

The Good: The Bears earned their first victory over McNabb. McNabb had never lost to the Bears before this game. Brian Urlacher looked like his self of old, recording 8 tackles and 4 assists. Russ at Bears Gab points out that the Bears are back in the playoff hunt for now. The NFC North isn't looking that great, and the Bears may even have a shot of winning the division.

The Bad: The running game still hasn't picked up, even with Griese throwing for over 300 yards. Benson had 46 yards on 17 attempts, which is awful (this week's rushing leader was Watson with Cincinnati, who had 130 yards on 31 attempts). Peterson had 21 yards on 4 rushes, which makes me question why he didn't get the ball more.

The Ugly: Redzone percentages for both teams. Chicago went 1/3 and Philly went 1/4. The Bears really need to improve this, although it was nice to see the Bears D hold Philly to 1/4 in the redzone.

Bears vs Eagles

Griese Chicken Report: It's a strange day, a Bears quarterback actually looked good. He looked really good, and not just good for a Bears quarterback. He's starting to get new weapons too, like Olsen and Berrian. Berrian has 30 receptions for 408 yards, and Olsen is tough to cover. He only has 11 catches 148 yards but he can block, which is confusing for linebackers. Jeff at Da' Bears Blog gets it right. Theres no need to cover your eyes when Griese drops back.

Key Matchup: Bears D vs themselves. The Bears defense has been terrible the last couple of games. Philly doesn't have a great offense, but the Vikings really didn't either until Adrian Peterson had a break out game last week. Urlacher looks terrible this season, and the secondary is falling apart. They're going to have to toughen up and stop McNabb this week.

A miracle

Griese Chicken Report: Enough to win. While 15 of 25 for 214 yards with 2 TDs and 1 pick aren't Pro Bowl numbers, they were enough to beat the packers. No that's not a mistake, I refuse to capitalize the p in packers anymore since coming in undefeated they got beat by a team that lost the Lions. The Bears lost to the fucking Lions, and the only thing worse than losing to the Lions is losing to a team that lost to the Lions. Anyways, Griese didn't make any terrible mistakes which is the reason they brought him in, so he did his job.

The Good: We beat the packers. Any time we beat the packers it's a good day for Chicago. It's Wednesday night and I'm still happy. As ChiTownBluesFan at Mega Bears writes, we finally got Olsen involved in the offense, and he looked like he could be a big part in the offense. Also Clark is a key TE, because he can block, so defenses don't suspect him of catching passes, but he does that very well.

The Bad: The offense was slow in the first half, and the defense was getting pounded by the run. But since we won, I can't bitch much.

The Ugly: The packers showed they had absolutely no balls and wouldn't kick off to Hester. It's an odd situation. You have to have huge balls to go on national tv and show that you have a slit in the front. The packers kick off team is now collectively Hester's bitch. And so is Mike McCarthy for allowing his players to play scared.

NFC North

The Bears play in the NFC North, a conference that hasn't been that great as of late, but is starting to turn things around. Here's a rundown, as of week 4, of the NFC North.

1. Green Bay Packers (3-0) - Brett Favre is back to a version close to his former self, except of course that he looks like a geriatric. Of course I'm just jealous because he's a badass, and the Bears have nothing at QB. Their running game isn't that great, but their passing game is close to the top in the league. They beat the Chargers, who beat the Bears, but if the Bears can get healthy I think the Bears will beat them.

2. Detroit Lions (2-1) - I can't think of a team I hate more than the Detroit Lions. This team ruined the career of Barry Sanders. Anyways the Bears play them this Sunday and I'm a little worried with Griese not having played a game in a while and with the defense having so many injuries. But the Lions got pounded by the Eagles last week, and their two wins came against the Raiders and the Vikings (who they beat in O.T.). They aren't as good as their record or that loud mouthed bitch Jon Kitna would have you believe.

3. Chicago Bears (1-2) - Started off shaky, but they'll get their act together. They're just suffering from Super Bowl loser syndrome (where they should be good since they have pretty much the same team as last year, but every one keeps getting hurt. Just look at the Steelers last year.)

4. Minnesota Vikings (1-2) - Vikings fans seem to think very highly of their team, which is good because I don't believe anyone else does. It seems the Vikings are destined to be bad again this year. Believe it or not, their QBs have looked almost as bad as Grossman, but to be fair they've gone against the leagues best defenses those games. The Falcons, Lions, and Chiefs. Nevermind, those teams suck.

Bears vs Chiefs

Sexy Rexy Report: Looked terrible last week, we can only hope he has one of his good games this week. The Chief's defense allowed the Texans to score 20 points. Maybe Rex can at least lead his offense to score this time. I'm not calling for his replacement by Griese because I don't believe Griese is that good of a quarterback. I'm calling for them to get rid of Orton and give Leak a chance.

Key Matchup: Bear's Linebackers vs LJ
After the Bears completely LT, I'm hoping they can do the same with LJ. LJ only had 43 yards against the Texans, but he did that on 10 carries giving him a 4.3 yards per rush which is pretty decent. I don't really see Kansas City's passing game as much of a threat, considering Damon Huard had a worse game last week then Grossman did (hard to believe, I know).

Other News: It seems Ron Rivera is running his mouth about Grossman, but when called out on it he denies it. The funny thing is that it's Rivera's own linebackers who are telling people Rivera is talking shit. Rivera was a Bears coach before this season, and is now a coach for the Chargers. Somebody needs to get their story straight.
